Talks about the North Korean nuclear file enter their third day

The six part talks over the North Korean disarmament resumed today and for the third day, after different parts pledged more progress in the disarmament process, no concrete decision had been issued so far.

 

Despite the new plan to disarm Pyongyang that seemed efficient, envoys still cautious after many false dawns, after more than three years of stopping and starting discuss, North Korea finally proposed to restrict its nuclear ambitions, thus delegates were to return to the table of negotiations to study that proposal.

 

Talks are currently held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, this latter prepared a draft deal that showed the reclusion of North Korea, Pyongyang government said it would stop, shut down and then seal all the nuclear facilities but in a guarantee return of energy and economic aid.

 

This decision is supposed to be welcomed by Washington administration, but this latter still reticent, due to North Korean decision in September 2005 in which Pyongyang accepted to give up its nuclear program for security guarantees and economic aid from the USA, a decision that was obviously not respected, since it carried out a nuclear test last October,9

 According to the Japanese media North Korea is reportedly negotiating for some 500,000 tons of fuel oil in exchange for suspending operation of a Yongbyon nuclear reactor and agreeing to IAEA inspections.
