The promises of South Africa’s president Mbeki


Situation in South Africa is quiet under expectations and president Thabo Mbeki pledged to its people do more efforts to combat all what the country is suffering from, poverty, aids, fight crime and improve social services, especially to create more jobs and reduce the rate of unemployment.

 The president’s speech was delivered on Friday in Capetown at the opening session of the South African parliament.

Thabo Mbeki said the most efficient way out from the crisis South Africa is currently witnessing is economic prosperity, in this country that consolidated and supported freedom for 13 years since the end of apartheid; this was underlined in Mbeki’s nationally televised State-of-the-Nation.

 

Mbkei declared no problem can be solved outside the context of the creation of jobs, eradicate and alleviate poverty and face issues as they are without trying to hide the truth.

 

The president raised also the literacy question and expressed his concern about the lack of education, saying raising literacy and educational level was of a paramount importance.

 

In order to build a new Africa Mbeki said poverty eradication will continue to be a central part of the efforts.


 

Thabo Mbeki seems proud of himself while he gave encouraging statistics about the building of houses and improvement of transportation and social services; moreover the United Nations listed his country as a nation that spent more money on water and sanitation than on its military program, unlike some other countries…
